Illumination Attracts Calumet
Electronics Corporation
Calumet
Electronics Corporation of Calumet,
MI, USA announces a major new
installation of Automated Optical
Test (AOT) equipment by Lloyd Doyle
of Surrey, UK. CEC has invested in
the Excalibur, Redline,
and Phasor systems thus
securing the widest range of
Automatic Optical Test capacity
available.
CEC
produces a full range of printed
circuit boards mainly in small to
medium volumes with a fast
turnaround. The emphasis in
manufacturing is on continuous
quality improvement with 100%
customer satisfaction. Installation
of the latest in AOT technology will
enable CEC to further these goals in
a demanding market.
The
Excalibur, Redline,
and Phasor systems are
ideally suited for the examination
of contemporary copper clad
laminates such as "reverse treated
foils" and chemically treated
"double-treat" materials. These
types of substrates have inherently
low contrast but are easily managed
by either of the three systems. The
Phasor system uses CCD/fluorescent
technology while the Excalibur
and Redline use reflective
light and together these three
systems complement each other
providing a complete solution for
CEC's products.
"We
are looking forward to working with
Lloyd Doyle," commented Elden
Hendricksen, Jr., Cec's Procurement
Manager. "AOT combines the
inspection process with Electrical
Test (ET) fault detection logic and
data preparation. The red, white,
and blue systems together will
effectively cover our AOT
requirements."
Automatic Optical Test is a unique
concept from Lloyd Doyle. This
effectively bridges the gap between
conventional AOT and ET and provides
the most versatile defect system
available to today's PCB
manufacturer.
